so i bought this rusty tin canister with old vintage green paint on it and some abstract impressionist flower designs on it. And i cut it up and gave resin another try. The first time i tried resin, it came out so sticky and gross and ....word of advice, i think you should add a little bit more hardener than you need...a teeny tiny bit....or it won't be enough and if you don't have enough, your resin will NOT harden. Blah!
So anyway, i cut up some rectangular shapes, punched some holes, filed them down, curved them, added resin with a brush and let it dry. Then i sanded down the resin layer to make it a bit more matte because the shiny was too much.
i made my own ear wires from 20 ga nickel wire and added some forest green enamel bits at the ends. FUN! this so far is one of my favorite pieces.
The round bits are recycled vintage bottle caps that i hammered down and then curved and sanded down and painted...drilled holes in...and then attached dangly awesomeness to them. I added the evil eye bead. The evil eye is actually for protection i believe...ancient symbol..

Again...recycled tin like the above...this is not resined.Everything is sealed with wax so that the paint won't come off. The ear wires again are made by me and oxidized. the beads are baby blue druzy. SO pretty!! druzy and rock specimens are always so fascinating to me
recycled vintage tin once again...with oxidized steel wire, 24 ga store bought ear wires....wire wrapping, etc etc. I don't know what to say about this pair. They're just made in a very primitive and rustic style and i love how the blue just pops in between the browns and grays.

recycled tin....gee...how'd you know?!?!
i had some fun making head pins with enamel balls heads in green and yellow...hammered some 20 ga nickel and attached it to the waxed up tin pieces...the fun part about this is the recycled glass beads in the middle there...i love the organic shapes and the texture. Another one of my tribal/artisan/primitive inspired pieces.

you know...the more i see these, the more i don't really care for them....recycled tin, recycled tin bezels with beach pottery in pastel yellow. Very simple idea and design...

recycled gray glass beads with lace and bead caps made from orange vintage bottle caps. Simple dangle earrings
these i LOVE!! i love the bead cap cones that i made from recycled tin and i love the faceted mint green agate beads at the end....with the orange seed beads wrapped around the top..

and this...THIS...is Miss Peanut....who lives with my parents now and clearly she is thoroughly enjoying her life on her satin princess pillows who are most delightful for her. She's looking all cranky because how dare a peasant interrupt her princess slumber? Or maybe there aren't enough pillows...or her pillow needs to be fluffed...or kibble needs to be served on a silver victorian platter. Or perhaps she overslept on her nap and is now running late on schedule for her next nap..??!!

Those are freakin' amazing. I love that you made it all down to the ear wires. I think you are really onto something!
thank you :D
Tin~tin~tin...my new adventure for 2013. I've been collecting tins at thrift shops and freebees but haven't had the courage to dabble yet and add them to my jewel designs. Your's are so gorgeous!!! I use the magic-gloss by lisa pavelka when i do resin stuff...do you think that would work for a sealent? I'm finally stepping outside the box in my designs.
